Mugshot Identification from Manipulated Facial Images

چکیده
Editing on digital images is ubiquitous. Identification of deliberately modified facial images is a new challenge for face identification system. In this paper, we address the problem of identification of a face or person from heavily altered facial images. In this face identification problem, the input to the system is a manipulated or transformed face image and the system reports back the determined identity from a database of known individuals. Such a system can be useful in mugshot identification in which mugshot database contains two views (frontal and profile) of each criminal. We considered only frontal view from the available database for face identification and the query image is a manipulated face generated by face transformation software tool available online. We propose SIFT features for efficient face identification in this scenario. Further comparative analysis has been given with well known eigenface approach. Experiments have been conducted with real case images to evaluate the performance of both methods.

Matching Pursuit Filters Applied To Face Identification - Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on
We present a face identification algorithm that automatically processes an unknown image by locating and identifying the face. The heart of the algorithm is the use of pursuit filters. A matching pursuit filter is an adapted wavelet expansion, where the expansion is adapted to both the data and the pattern recognition problem being addressed. For identification, the filters find the features th...

متن کاملMugshot exposure effects: Retroactive interference, mugshot commitment, source confusion, and unconscious transference.
More than 25 years of research has accumulated concerning the possible biasing effects of mugshot exposure to eyewitnesses. Two separate metaanalyses were conducted on 32 independent tests of the hypothesis that prior mugshot exposure decreases witness accuracy at a subsequent lineup. Mugshot exposure both significantly decreased proportion correct and increased the false alarm rate, the effect...
متن کاملRecognition of face profiles from the mugshot database using a hybrid connectionist/HMM approach
Biometrical systems have been the focus of concentrated research efforts in recent years. These systems can be used to identify a person or to grant a person access to something, e.g. a room. Face recognition technology has reached a level of performance at which frontal-view recognition of faces with slightly different facial expressions, view angles or head poses can be considered nearly solv...
